Details

Limited, deluxe 3-LP vinyl edition of Dwight Yoakam’s classic debut album Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc., to be released on December 23rd. The collection features the original 1986 album tracks, 10 demos the Kentucky-born, Ohio-raised singer and songwriter recorded in 1981 at United Western Recorders in Hollywood, CA, and 12 live tracks from a career-making performance at the Roxy on L.A.’s famed Sunset Strip shortly after the album’s release. The remastered tracks first appeared on a CD reissue released by Rhino Records in 2006, but this is the first time the bonus content has been released on vinyl. The Reprise set also features expanded liner notes adapted for the album’s 30th anniversary.

After signing with Reprise in 1985, Yoakam recorded Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc., — his major label debut — with guitarist Pete Anderson, bassist J. D. Foster, drummer Jeff Donavan, and Brantley Kearns on fiddle. The album climbed to #1 on Billboard’s country album chart for two weeks and remained on the charts for three years. Its unique mix of traditional honky-tonk, red-hot Bakersfield twang, and rock ’n’ roll spirit spawned a trio of hit singles including the title track, a cover of Johnny Horton’s 1956 hit “Honky Tonk Man,” and “It Won’t Hurt.”
